It took me about fifty pages to stop reading the book (this was when it first came out before I heard anyone criticize it). It's junk.
We have to face it. At this moment of time in American evangelical history virtually every Christian book (at least that claim to be) that rises to the sales heights of "Wild at Heart" are mostly feeble in doctrine (if there is any), and purposed to make us feel good about ourselves for the wrong reasons, or achieve man-centered goals. Why else would a book like "Wild at Heart" rise to those levels of sales success? Is it because we have so many Christians in this country passionate to understand the hard truths of scripture, and yearn to live lives that reflect submission and obedience to Christ? The reality is those are the books that many Christians quit reading after fifty pages. That is if they even start reading one. Re: Wild at Heart Again

I'm grateful to others, like you Tim, you have gone on ahead to scout out the territory and have turned back to warn the rest of us not to venture into the wilderness of Wild at Heart. Thanks to you and others, I heve neither purchased the book nor started to read it.
All really bad books need to be read by at least a few who will offer insightful critiques. Other really bad books require more widespread reading to offer critiques to warn others of the horrors one will find and to expose the flaws of authors. So, now that you've stopped reading the book, what will you do with the book? Will it be a specimen of badness on your shelf? ABC Re: Wild at Heart Again

I like that. A specimen of badness. I believe I will have a special section on specimens of badness on my bookshelf. A dubious honor to be sure.
