Amen! I completely resonate with Jeff Burton's blog entry. Being here in Ireland throughout the days of the G8 meetings has been an interesting experience. Here, folks seem implicitly to embrace the notion that charity is the work of governments. Here's a novel idea for all you enormous rock stars! Why don't you put all your money together and do a real deed of kindness and charity? Instead of holding a rock concert to try to induce heads of states to take up your cause, why don't you get to work and resolve poverty yourself? Give your own money instead of getting heads of states to reach into our pockets to confiscate our weath and our charity? Get individuals to contribute voluntarily to the cause instead of through compulsory contributions called taxation.
